The rudder system has a rudder bearing case in a slot in the transom. The large diameter stainless steel rudder shaft passes down through this bearing to the rudder blade. This assembly provides a kickup rudder system that continues to steer even when raised and trailing in the water. Shallow draft is one of the main advantages of multihull sailboats and the TomCat 9.7 can be beached or moored in as little as 18 in of water. | |||||
