| About TomCat Boats
TomCat Boats is a part of Strain Associates Ltd. (SAL), a Canadian corporation with a Federal Charter which has been in business since 1990. Preceded by consulting and catamaran charter in Florida, TomCat started with the design of the TomCat 6.2 in 1993. Prototype construction and testing followed in 1994/5 with the molds and first production boat completed in 1996. Following successful local marketing in 1996/7, theTomCat 6.2 was introduced to the broader North American market in 1998. The TomCat 9.7 design has been developed over the last two years, as market input has been gathered to define the performance and cruising requirements. Our objective is to meet high quality standards at a reasonable cost. The principals in the organization are: Ted Strain - A graduate in Engineering Physics with a lifelong interest in boats of all kinds. After a successful career in digital electronics and computer communications (with a lot of canoeing and sailing in spare time), turned to multihull design and technology. Tom Strain - With experience in sailing everything from dinghies to 50 ft. catamarans, and universty training in Chemistry, Physics and Business, Tom is General Manager of TomCat Boats, and responsible for the tooling and production of our designs, as well as boat show marketing and the occasional delivery. |
